Known as 'The Architect among Dressmakers', Madeleine Vionnet's use of the bias cut would help revolutionise women's clothing. Vionnet was inspired by the detailed beadwork found on her elegant evening wear, the fine cotton warp and satin weave ground mimics the satin used for her famous gowns.
